With the conclusion of the 2015 Presidential elections Sri Lankan politics have entered a very interesting phase. The camps of the two presidential candidates are almost equally divided. This blog is to share the very many different opinions of these two camps.
The MR Camp – Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa made many enemies for defeating LTTE, a terrorist group considered the most dangerous by the FBI. He lost his presidency at the recent elections with a margin of less than 50,000. His defeat shocked the nation, including those who voted against him. More surprising though is his popularity that is growing stronger by the day. Despite the many allegations leveled at him and his supporters from the opposite camp, the cry for his return is also growing louder and more insistent.
Th MS Camp – incumbent President Maithripala Sirisena is in an unenviable position. He was brought to power by a coalition of political bitter rivals, whose one shared goal was dislodging the Common Enemy – Mahinda Rajapaksa. Since that has been achieved, MS’s challenge is not only keeping these political enemies together, but also getting them to work together to achieve their daunting 100-day program.
Politically, Sri Lanka today is the most happening and interesting country in the world! Politicslk is a group of professionals who have got together to capture the ‘action’ in the form of political analysis and reviews as it happens.
